Himmel Über Barcelona
The facade is decomposing. The ground floor is picking up the historic grid of the Barceloneta: narrow and longed traces depressed by impoverishment.
The use is basically commercial. In section, the dwelling blocks rise over the spine of the urban fabric. In this sense it is producing a first expansion. The group presents itself as a body. It has the head, tail and abdomen of a fish. The presence of the spine makes us think of a radiography that shows the physiological interior of this animal/fish.
In reality it reveals the implantation, the morphological interiority of the area. The translation is expressed by the absence and transparency. The Eixample grid, the model city of Barcelona, has been copied inside of their parts.
