Kindergarten Can Serrafossa-La Perla
The centre is situated in an area of isolated houses of the village Rubi,
on a site destined for public use, adjacent to the school plot la Perla, and
to the plot of the public square. The project takes into account the characteristics
of the school, in order for it to become a part of this public area, facing
the street la Pau. The principal concept is to create a linear building, with
the children’s classrooms facing towards the south-west and the rest
of the program towards the school’s courtyard. The roofs resemble to
two waves, one of concrete and the other of metal, which allow the integration
with the landscape in a natural manner.
The school consists of one floor. Both the pedestrian access and the school
are encountered at the level 160,5m of the terrain. The entrance gives direct
access to the multifunctional space which leads to a baby-carriage storage
and the corridor which in its turn confronts the classrooms and the other
spaces. One can have access to the installation’s room also from la
Pau st.
The play ground for the children has been situated in the free space in front
of the classrooms. It is a sunny and ideal to play in, where trees and a fence
will protect the children from the street danger.
The project takes into consideration different criteria of sustainability.
The building is based on the adoption of active-passive systems which will
permit to diminish a large quantity of energy consumption. The objective is
to create a long-lasting and therefore long-term sustainable building .The
established strategy of the design of the project consists of a methodology
for the application criteria of sustainability: passive behaviour (bioclimatic
design), renewable energy systems, natural resources and materials, and constructive
solutions.
